Retired Research Cimpanzees Enter the ‘Wild’

Chimp Haven is a sanctuary for retired biomedical research chimpanzees and it has released the video below showing retired US government research chimpanzees entering the ‘wild’ for the first time.  I found the video very moving.

  1. To see their age, and think what they’ve been through… And to see their reaction at such a new environment — it’s just tear-jerking. Thank heavens for people like this.

  2. These chimpanzees have been forced by humans to sacrifice their natural lives, some up to 50 years old. Now a kinder group of humans have worked and sacrificed and dedicated their lives to providing sanctuary for these beautiful, innocent, sentient, living beings. Blessings on sanctuaries such as Chimp Haven, Inc., who take action to protect, defend and lend voice for living beings who cannot speak for themselves. ~ Gerean Pflug for “The Animal Spirits”
